Hampshire Genealogical Society is celebrating their 50th Anniversary with a Golden Jubilee Event on Saturday 6 July and Sunday 7 July. Earlybird tickets now on sale. The two-day event is open to both HGS members and non-members and takes place at Victoria Halls, West Green Road, Hartley Wintney, Hook, Hampshire, RG27 8RQ. Speakers include Dave Annal, Dr Melsia Tomlin-Kraftner, Dr Janet Few, Dr Penny Walters, Paul McNeil, Joe Saunders, Dr Sophie Kay, Jackie Depelle, and Dr Caroline Adams.

Glenn Gayle, Project Administrator of the FTDNA Holder DNA Project is looking for members that are male and have the surname Holder in the hope that they would be willing to do Y-DNA testing at FTDNA at our expense. The candidates would need to be from an all male Holder line. They are looking for six candidates from different lines. The project has 251 members in the US. The London International Palaeography (LIPS) 2024 Summer School has launched. LIPS is a series of intensive courses in Palaeography and Manuscript Studies taught in and around Senate House, University of London.

LIPS is also running a range of short courses throughout 2024, including an online course ‘Introduction to Medieval Spanish Palaeography (800-1500)’ – this course links to the in-person LIPS course: Books in Late Medieval Spain: A Palaeographical Introduction.
The British Records Association’s 2024 annual conference Curtain Up! The Practice of Archiving Performance will be held in partnership with APAC (Association of Performing Arts Collections) on Tuesday 29 October 2024 at The Gallery, 77 Cowcross Street, London, EC1M 6EJ and is an opportunity to share the work of the performing arts archive world.
The theme of this year’s conference will be active archiving, with, through, and for practitioners.
Abstracts of papers (20 minutes) or lightning talks as part of a panel (5 minutes) should be a maximum of 200 words and should be accompanied by a biography of all participants of up to 150 words. Deadline for submission is 5pm on 3 May 2024.

Old Scottish has released a brand-new dataset of Scottish-Australian convict criminal records that connects transportation records of 8,500 individuals convicted in Scotland to their original court documents, now stored at the National Records of Scotland in Edinburgh.
