2. There’s No Such Thing As Too Many Books
Our publications make for ideal Christmas presents, being carefully curated to help individuals uncover the mysteries of their family history and explore their roots.
One of our top recommendations is Dates & Calendars for the Genealogist by Cliff Webb. This invaluable guide of tables and charts aids genealogists in unravelling the complexities of times and dates in their research. With this book, you can confidently piece together your family's history and gain a deeper understanding of the chronological aspects of your ancestors' lives.
Another must-have publication is My Ancestor Was in the British Army by Michael Watts and Christopher Watts. This practical guide is a goldmine for family historians with ancestors who served in the British Army since 1660. The authors have painstakingly compiled an extensive collection of records that shed light on the lives and activities of millions of British soldiers. Discover surprising and plentiful details plus valuable insights on how to access these records, whether in archives or online.
3. We Repeat: There’s No Such Thing As Too Many Books!
Our SoG Book Club is a fantastic place to meet fellow bookworms and genealogists. Meeting each month online, we read 10 books a year . Why not try some of the books enjoyed by our community this year?
If you're a fan of genealogy fiction, immerse yourself in the thrilling world of Nathan Dylan Goodwin's Chester Creek Murders. And for those who crave non-fiction, be enchanted by Tessa Boase's The Housekeeper’s Tale.
These books offer more than a good read: they're also an inspiration to unlock the stories of your own family’s past, waiting for you to discover.
