Using County Archives: New Poor Law Records (1834 onwards) with West Sussex Record Office

Archivists from the West Sussex Record Office help you to get the most from collections of New Poor Law Records, which are commonly found in county archives and record offices across the country.

These collections can be a mine of genealogical information. Discover how to access and check the key records. Learn tips for what to do when you don’t know the Poor Law Union in which your ancestor lived and what to do if the records you need have not survived. Finally, learn how to use catalogues and finding aids to assist with delving into the records.
