Lambeth Palace Library is the library and archive of the Archbishops of Canterbury and central bodies of the Church of England. This talk will provide a brief history of the Church and the Library, before focusing in more detail on the wide range of collections held at LPL and how they can add context to the lives of ancestors. More information on specific areas of genealogical research will follow, including sources for clergy biography, marriage records, testamentary records, medical licences, as well as other relevant archival and printed sources. The talk will also cover what the Library does not hold – for example, baptism, burial and ordination records – and provide some signposts for locating these records.
