The Society is please to announce that its Library Catalogue is now available on-line.
Access to the catalogue, until now, has been restricted to PCs located in the Society's library at 14 Charterhouse Buildings, Goswell Road, London EC1M 7BA.
You will not be able to view any of the library material on-line, it is the catalogue of the library holdings. All of the material is located at the Society's premises in London. However, the Society offers a limited Search and Copy service.
The Society's library is the largest family history research centre in the UK. The catalogue, which was computerised with help from the National Lottery, contains about 120,000 items including all books, microfiche, microfilms, CD-ROMs, audio cassettes and a few videos. The catalogue is held in a widely used commercial software package produced by EOS. The total dataset, hosted on their server, using extensive indexing and thesaurus terms, is over 9 Gigabytes.
